What is it then?
Rumours have been circulating the interweb for a while of a new Superleggera model and there is now some definite information to support this. Ducati has recently leaked some details of a direct competitor to Honda’s road-going RCV, thought to be due out next year. Not much is known so far, with some Ducati owners having been sent an invitation to a ‘Project 1408’ website containing hints of what is to come.
What do we know?
Not much, except to expect a lot of carbon. Like, A LOT of carbon. It’s anticipated to tip the scales at a slender 155kg dry, pump out 220bhp and have an engine capacity of 1408cc. One thing the website definitely states is that the monocoque frame will be carbon fibre and 38% lighter than the current Panigale’s aluminium version. A carbon fibre swingarm is expected too, a first on a production bike, and it will come with carbon wheels too.
What does is look like?
Don’t know. The bike pictured above was spotted testing by CycleNews in the USA but there is nothing to confirm this is the 1408.
How much will it cost?
About £66,000… so start saving!
